God With Us

“God With Us” was a 1997 choir special hosted at First Baptist Church in Sylvester, Georgia, bringing together singers from the Alpha and Omega Adult Choirs of First Baptist Church, the adult choirs of Antioch Baptist Church, Pinson Memorial United Methodist Church, Northside Baptist Church, and other area churches. The combined choir rehearsed both within their individual congregations and in joint rehearsals, creating a unified community worship experience.

The program centered on the theme of God’s nearness to His people, Emmanuel, “God with us.” Through a blend of contemporary worship songs by Don Moen and traditional hymns, the choir presented thematic medleys such as the “He Is Faithful Medley” and the “Name Above All Names Medley,” highlighting God’s faithfulness, majesty, love, and sustaining presence.

A defining feature of the service was its emphasis on unified worship across denominational lines. Rather than focusing on church distinctions, the special celebrated the shared faith of believers joining together as one voice in praise. Narration and personal testimony were woven throughout the music, including moments connected to songs like “God Will Make a Way,” reinforcing the message that God remains present and faithful through trials and life’s difficult circumstances.

Overall, “God With Us” was designed as a significant worship experience, an offering of praise meant to welcome the presence of God and draw worshipers into a deeper awareness of His intimate love and constant care.
